We heard Scandinavian styles many times in this interior design world, but what does it actually mean? Originally, the Scandinavian style came from Nordic roots and expresses light and muted interior colour palette. This style is mostly characterised by clean lines and a simple accent of an elegant and sophisticated look. The overall impression is modern yet minimal and functional, similarly like the Minimalist look in my previous post.

An ideal Scandinavian interior mainly focuses on simplicity, clean and minimal aesthetic that makes you feel calm and relaxed...It strives to be as straightforward, organised and as clutter-free as possible. It is also about maximising natural light with bright, breezy and airy spaces. The decor is kept to a minimum in Scandinavian design, this also means that bare walls and empty spaces are not frowned upon.

If you are looking for Scandinavian style inspirations online, you will notice that carpet is almost non existence. The flooring is normally focus on wood and raw nature that is normally in its natural colour and painted in white.

The basic element of Scandinavian style is by using simple, sleek and modern furniture that is inspired by nature. Here are some careful combination of simple elements that makes up the Scandinavian style for you to consider.

In contrary of what I've mention earlier, as much as Scandinavian is all about simple and minimal, it doesn't have to be boring. Compliment your furnitures by adding simple and clean lines paintings for your Scandinavian space, here are some example:
