I recently realized that it's been ages since my last blog post! Life has a way of keeping us busy, right? Creating a home you truly adore is an ongoing journey, and my space has been a labor of love that's continually evolving. What can I say? I just can't resist making changes! Now let me share with you my journey as I explore boho coastal chic lifestyle adventures and all its quirks and charms. Let's chat about our stairway living space – that cozy nook sandwiched between the entryway and the living room, where you flop after a long day. Take a peek at the snapshot below; it's from when we first moved in and just threw everything together. My beloved turquoise daybed – it's a stunner! I rescued it from being tossed away by an earlier customer 8 years ago and gave it a new lease on life. But, let's be real, it's not the best for napping. So, I decided to give it a new home upstairs for a fresh 'chill zone.' And that Ikea shelf? It started as a budget-friendly addition but began feeling too rigid as the house came together. Time to spice it up! So, when the stars aligned and our budget allowed for that fabulous rattan lounger, I caught the redecorating bug and started hunting for more ways to amp up our stairway iving space. One of my absolute favorite transformations was swapping out that plain, vanilla white shelf for a rugged, wooden shelves! The shelf in its new raggedy glory brought in a whole lot of character. I couldn't resist jazzing up those shelves with mementos from our globe-trotting adventures. The crystal stones from Croatia and the starfish from the Bahamas are like little pieces of paradise right on our living room shelf. I decided to go with a chic wall collage inspired by Kendall Jenner stairway. It's a mix of classic family photos in black and white. I wanted to keep it simple to blend seamlessly with all the other vibrant colors around. It really amps up the whole space! Here's the final look – I'm absolutely loving it! I'm currently all about neon lights; they're the perfect touch to make the space chic and playful. I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog as much as I've enjoyed sharing these updates!
Till my next post! Toodle-doo!

Since our move was delayed for 6 months due to the pandemic, we have a lot of time to plan. I manage to snap all the bare wall photos and measurements of our home beforehand, so it comes in super handy while deciding on the style. The first thing is the living room feature wall. Having seen hundreds of designs as part of my work, deciding one for our own home is more complicated than it seems. I got a little psycho and did so many versions, but one thing is for sure, the style that we want to achieve is a bohemian decor style with a coastal beach twist or some would call it bohemian beachy chic. This theme is great as both me and hubs work from home, and we want our home to be carefree and have a chilled and relaxed vibe, away from all the stress. This sofa was one of the first things we purchased for our home. It was a hard find, as I wanted a sofa that is laid back and ideal for stretching out, my hubs call me a sotong, hehe. Also, it is perfect for a movie night, when we have friends or families over (well, when that happens). I love its neutral colour, although having to maintain it is a different story! But the good thing with a neutral palette is you can play with colours and textures from the throw and pillows. Initially, we wanted a leather armchair to create a more masculine space, but this two armchair was love at a first sight, and it was the only 1 one of kind pair we found at a local furniture shop. The moment we got our keys, we brought in paint and brush to start with our mural project. We finally decided to paint this gorgeous floral design as our feature wall and it was completed within the same day! I love this design so much as it really defines the space and it is exactly what I imagined it to be. The colour of this mural also reflects the pool which is within a few meters away. Currently, we are using Ikea sheer curtains for the windows, we wanted to install nice curtains from the ceiling, but it cost a bomb! So maybe later. Heads up, there is a tall basket vase on the right to the console, it kinda looks unfinished. We will eventually get a nicer plant or pampas - we just haven’t found the right one yet! 😉 I also recently just remove all carpets from our home to make the house more dust-free, as I just got to know that I am allergic to dust. Maybe we only use carpets when we can have guests over. After I started working more and more on styling my own home, I realised that certain things bothered me so much. One of the things is cables and wiring, so I hid it with rattan baskets. Well, it works! Ah, the beauty of Shoppee! I absolutely love having fresh florals in the house, however, I only saved them for special occasions, as it can be quite high maintenance and costly. Fake flowers are also a wonderful way to add freshness and life to the living room. Plus, they can last forever! Up to date, there are still so many things that are still work in progress. But you know what they say, Rome wasn't built in a day!
If you like to see more Mural, Artwork or other DIY projects that you can work on for your home, head over to my home journey diary @ Coastal Paradize! Yaaay, finally we just moved in to our new house! I’m so excited to share with you our process of moving in and decorating our first home! It took us a long time before we finally moved in, due to the lockdown and pandemic, but we did it! We fell in love with this duplex house and one of the reason is that it is on the ground floor and have a gorgeous pool view. We didn't have the budget to renovate our house (although we would love to in the future). We have many furnitures from both my hubby and my previous home and offices that we manage to sold off before moving to our new home. It'll be nice to start from scratch, but it's a shame to get rid some of our unsold furnitures. In many ways, it was a HUGE amount of work. But, anyhow, we need to make it work. It takes a certain eye to be able to pull a room together and make it fabulous and functional at the same time. But not everyone can hire an interior designer to guide us with our design decisions, also with the pandemic, it is not convenient to do any form of renovation... So we decided that with the help on the internet and pinterest, we can work our way on achieving our dream home. Here is the photo of the house before we moved in, we were quite lucky that the previous owner really cleaned up well and the house was really well maintained. First things first! All walls to be painted white! Wait what, isn't it already white? Short answer is. no. The living room has an awesome tall ceiling wall and a great big window with nice view of the balcony and pool...obviously a feature wall art is must! There is an existing dry kitchen with a build in cabinet. We do have the desire to break down the dry and wet kitchen so we can have an open kitchen with a toilet and laundry room, but this has to wait. On the ground floor, there is a guest room with a bathroom, store room and another small room in the kitchen (I think its a survival pantry closet in case of zombie apocalypse). On the second floor, there is a masterbedroom with a bathroom with a bathtub, 2 other bedrooms with a shared bathroom. There is also another living room upstairs and the stairway area that is dying to be decorate. So that’s the first glimpse of our house! As you can see we have a lottttt of work to do and we are still figuring out the 'theme'. One thing for sure, we like the house to be bright, fresh and airy!
Putting the house together is an exciting adventure, I hope it wouldn't be stressful and overwhelming. The trick is to work on area by area, after all, we will be living there for a very long time. Whether you’re moving to a new place, looking to bring new life into a room, or simply love home tours — we love to share our experience with you. Stay tune for more! As you take a stroll down the street, have you noticed that certain building has amazing illustrations painted on its surface? Those amazing artworks are called murals and their distinctiveness are captivating. What makes mural art so unique is that they can be cooperated into the surface’s own physical built to enhance its traits and make the space more vibrant and livelier. For instance, by adding a mural to an empty wall can boost the appearance of the space thus making it look much more fascinating. Murals are multipurpose as its also serves as a great backdrop as well as helps increase overall attractiveness of the space. Imagine walking through Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur or Arab Street in Singapore that display an array of magnificent murals. Did you know? Petaling Jaya is one of the most impressive suburbs in Kuala Lumpur as it has numerous coruscating bars and restaurants. If you are trying to find for something to do in Petaling Jaya, you can check out Kayak.com.my for more info. Not-quite-recently, we did a massive project that pushes the whole Artisan team to test our limit and set us on another challenging course to expand our creativity. The whole project was just based on an idea which then we turn into an actual work of art. This particular art piece consists of four different element such as digital design print on stickers, 3D effect using compound cement, neon light and of course, the star of the show, the Mural itself. Who said murals are not suitable for homes? Below are some examples of murals to contradict the notion. The colours chosen are pastel and muted for the living and dining area and if it done right, murals can be soothing and expressive to the eyes. Do you need help with your wall space? Well, you are probably planning a makeover for your living room, front wall, and kitchen. Have you noticed, there's a smaller space in your living area that you're probably overlooking: the stairwell. Even if each stairway does not lead to your dream city, it is always worthwhile to spend some time on the path it takes you on. Did you see a blank wall next to your stairwell? That wall is an excellent opportunity to liven up the room, and art is an excellent way to do so. The most difficult aspect of choosing artwork for stairwells is maintaining a consistent composition in an environment where your eyes are constantly shifting angles. Since most stairwells are narrow enough, creating a wall collage of smaller items, such as a family portrait or a quirky quote frame, is ideal and perfect for your stairway. Just by adding a single larger statement piece is another of our favourite options. Only make sure this piece of art blends in with the rest of the furniture on both floors. Emphasis on both floor because, well you do not want it to appear strange on either side. Below is an example of an artwork that can be seen on the stairwell! Just look at how much lighter the room has been! The painting itself give us some illusion and raises the stairway's height, making it seem more open and much more spacious. From this point, get motivated and be ready to give your walls a makeover. Other stairway ideas and inspirations can be found below, as well as on our Artisan Malaysia Gallery website. When you walk into the front door, the hallway of a place is the first space you encounter. Does it seem like it is lacking decoration or it just simply dull? Well, I do think that we have the answer. Hallways, as we know, is a pathway between rooms and landings; but it's not quite a room and more of a transitional space. It is one of the most critical aspects of our home that is often used, but it is often forgotten and ignored when it comes to adorning the space. This room is also the first area of the house that greets our visitors, and it serves as the first view of your home. So, it is important enough to make a great first impression. It is now time to rearrange and give our hallway the very much needed makeover. There are several ways to add a fabulous flair to your hallway. One of it is to decorate your wall with a combination of cool frames and a wall collage of your family or vacation snaps. It's much more enjoyable, inexpensive and creative. Plus, it really adds to the décor. Another way to spruce up the room is with oil paints. With this, you can absolutely incorporate a painting of a lovely garden or landscape, roses, or even an abstract painting to enrich the space. On the other hand, you need to make sure the colours you choose for this area complement the rest of your house! Making a dull corridor into a breath-taking room can be considered effortless. Just by adding the right choice of oil painting can have a significant effect on the overall look and perspective of your house. Look at how lovely this corridor is now! This light-coloured abstract oil painting really does bring liveliness to the hallway. Eager to give the walls a new look? When it comes to the foyer or some may call it entryway, the most underappreciated piece of furniture is always a console table. What is the purpose of having a beautiful console table if everybody actually paying it no mind? It is not only a terrific way to greet visitors as soon as they walk in the door, but it is also a great chance to showcase your creative side and make a stunning aesthetic effect for your place. Frankly, console tables are ideal for filling tiny or tight places such as hallways or beneath the stairwells, and they are also a great way to fill any empty corners in your house. It can also create a focal point and adds functionality to the narrow space. By using beautiful oil paintings and other decorative items to create a focal point or a statement piece may dramatically improve the area. If you want to hang the piece, place it in the middle of the console table and do leave a few inches between the bottom border of the frame and the table. For a horizontal piece leave a few more space while for the vertical one does the opposite by leaving fewer space. Here are some console table wall painting inspirations to brighten and lighten up your interior area. Check out this superimposed image of a lovely floral artwork over the console table! Take a look at how it transforms the area into a much livelier space! Be motivated and get ready to give your walls a makeover. Ever since the pandemic, spending most of our time at home has became a norm and it has definitely change our lifestyle. If your work allows you to work from home, it only makes sense that building a home office space is the perfect way to boost your productivity, keep you organised, and add sophistication and functionality to your home’s design. An office or a study room should reflect your character and individuality. An important space like this should be organised in such a way that is comfortable. You may not be able to completely tune out distractions while working from home, but you can engineer an environment that helps you be productive, and achieve success. Research has shown that having oil paintings in your office can help you to restore mental energy and reduce stress, both of these effects boost brain performance. Seeing nature images in artwork has also been linked to lower levels of anger in workplaces. Horse painting is another popular choice for office decor, it has a universal symbol of freedom without restraint, courage and freedom. This majestic animal also symbolised power, independence, endurance, confidence, heroism, and competition. Here is an example of how a horse painting looks like in the otherwise plain and dull wall. As we all know, bedrooms are the most private spaces in the house. These areas are reserved solely for a few close guests. Thus, they are often being glossed over. Nonetheless, your own comfort room deserves your undivided attention. Because here is where you unwind, refuel, and reflect on your day, it only makes sense to decorate it with gorgeous artworks. The finest space for art in the bedroom are those directly positioned above the bed or on the opposite wall. Large sized pieces work best among others and should be displayed at eye level. Our advice is, of course, to look for an abstract artwork with calming tones and colours. One thing is for sure, art is important in boosting both the beauty and the degree of comfort wanted in a bedroom. A picture depicting a never-ending ocean or a field of flowers, for example, would be comforting and soothing for the heart. As you can see, we would want to concentrate on the artwork itself and show how the colour influences your emotions. You can choose strong colour but pastel colours are usually a popular demand since they are peaceful and easy on the eyes; after all, the bedroom is a place where you can relax. By adding the desired oil painting, this is what the bedroom will look like. See how it increases the bedroom liveliness tenfold. With this dream pastel flowery painting, you may have no problem enjoying your beauty sleep. The other bedroom ideas and inspirations can be seen further down.
