We recently had the opportunity to bring our art into a new kind of space at Mercure Hotel Putrajaya, where we completed a live mural installation designed to bring calm, flow, and human connection into the heart of the hotel. This wasn’t just about filling a wall. It was about designing an experience, one that blends into the hotel’s rhythm while standing out enough to invite attention. Throughout the process, people stopped to watch, ask questions, and share thoughts. Some stayed to chat, others simply smiled and moved on. These moments reminded us that art has the power to break down barriers and spark spontaneous connection, even in a hotel lobby. The engagement didn’t stop there. We were honored to be invited for an exclusive feature in Mercure’s in-house magazine, offering us a platform to share the story behind the mural and the inspiration that shaped it. We’re thrilled with how this mural came to life — its playful flow and warm palette fit perfectly with Mercure’s welcoming, lifestyle-focused brand identity and highlight the spirit of the hotel. Projects like this remind us why we do what we do: art has the power to elevate a space, inspire connection, and enrich every guest’s experience. Do you need help to beautify your space? When our client Jerry reached out for his latest venture, we knew it was going to be a bold project. This time, the mission was to paint a branding mural on a long-sided corrugated concrete wall, bringing life to an otherwise plain surface. Set under a large steel-roofed shelter, the gym is open-air with turf flooring and an industrial edge. The wall doesn’t wrap the space—but it anchors it. We worked across three wide sections of the wall, each with its own set of height and surface challenges. To handle the vertical reach and the uneven grooves of the corrugated concrete, we set up scaffolding that allowed us to move safely and efficiently along the wall. This setup was essential not only for precision in painting but also for layering the design evenly across the entire span. The second day brought unexpected rain, but it didn’t compromise the mural. The high-performance exterior paint held up flawlessly, with colours that stayed sharp, bold, and vibrant even after getting wet—much like the Savage Gears gym itself: resilient, reliable, and built to endure. Despite the setback, we still completed the mural within three days, proving that with the right team and the right tools, strong results always follow. Although the final design appears clean and simple, creating it required strategic layering and precision, especially on a grooved concrete surface. Every stroke had to align across the uneven texture to maintain clarity and balance. The finished look blends bold text, a neon-style barbell graphic, and a clear 24-hour message—simple but commanding, speaking with presence rather than complexity. The branding instantly elevates the gym’s vibe, transforming a once-blank wall into a key visual landmark. From nothing to a street-style statement piece, this project shows how a single wall can set the tone for an entire space when design meets purpose. Do you need help to beautify your space? When it comes to creating memorable experiences, nothing transforms a space quite like a custom mural. Recently, we had the exciting opportunity to enhance three key areas at Hyatt House Residences — each with its own purpose and personality. From vibrant indoor hubs to tranquil outdoor spaces, we were assigned to breathe new life into these walls and elevate the experience for every guest and resident. Our journey began in the Family Lounge and Game Room — a lively and welcoming area designed for fun, relaxation, and togetherness. For this space, we created a mural filled a ‘Let’s Play’ word and colors that spark creativity and energy, making it a perfect backdrop for games and gathering. Next, we moved into the Gym — a high-energy space that called for bold design. Here, we painted sleek patterns and dynamic shapes that feel modern and motivating. Next up- Swimming pool! We picked the evening to work, half-hoping we’d accidentally fall in and get an early swim — but nope, we’ve been so careful that not a single splash has happened (yet 😄). Each mural is unique in its style, but all three share one important goal: to enrich the experience of everyone who visits these spaces. Whether it’s a guest playing a game, someone pushing their limits in the gym, or someone relaxing by the pool, we believe these murals will leave a lasting impression and enhance the Hyatt Residences’ welcoming spirit. We’re incredibly proud of this project and how it showcases the power of art to elevate everyday spaces. What were once ordinary walls are now transformed into vibrant, engaging environments that leave a lasting impression. It’s a reminder that with the right creative touch, any space can become a memorable destination — full of character, energy, and purpose. And now... here are the After photos! Moving on to our next project, we found ourselves walking through Jerry’s home — and it felt like stepping into a story. Each space carried its own character, but one corner captured our attention right away: the staircase landing. A round window framed the greenery outside, letting soft sunlight spill gently into the house. It was more than just a beautiful view; it was a moment that felt alive. That feeling became the spark behind the mural we created, designed to echo the same sense of peace and quiet magic without overwhelming the space. Our team began by prepping the space — removing old wallpaper, priming, and creating a fresh white canvas ready to come alive. This clean slate set the stage for something truly special. A few behind-the-scenes moments from our Artisan's team in action. Fast forward to the finish, and the room tells a completely different story. What was once just a plain wall is now a hidden retreat — a space that feels like a garden in full bloom. It’s not just pretty to look at, it actually makes you want to linger. And that’s the best part of what we do: taking blank walls and turning them into art that feels alive, and spaces people genuinely enjoy being in. We’re so grateful to Jerry for opening his home and letting us create. May this mural always feel like a hidden retreat just for you — here is a little note from us to you. We were thrilled when the owner of Hott Chickk reached out to us. As a seasoned restaurateur with multiple establishments in TTDI, their reputation for vibrant and eclectic dining spaces had us buzzing with ideas. With a blank wall as our canvas, we knew it was time to add some spice. The owner's request? Make it colourful and don't forget to add plenty of wings and drumsticks! Pojects like this, even if they're small, typically take at least 2–3 days to complete. Why? It's all about the layers. Each colour section requires multiple coats to achieve a solid, vibrant finish. the painting process involves base layers, detailing, and final touches, each adding depth and dimension to the artwork. Take a look at the picture below to see the transformation—from a blank canvas to sketch work, and finally, to the richly layered mural! Can you imagine if it were just a bare wall? Life without art is like a chicken wing without sauce—bland and boring! Now, this wall is full of colour and personality, just like Hott Chickk’s fiery menu. Come by, check out the mural, and grab a bite while you’re at it! 📍 24, Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad, TTDI (formerly Taco Bell) And here’s a behind-the-scenes snap of us during one of our makan breaks—because sometimes, the best team moments happen over food. There’s something special about returning to familiar places—especially during Ramadan. A recent iftar at Mardhiyyah Hotel in Shah Alam brought the whole extended family together for an evening filled with laughter, good food, and shared stories. It reminded me how some places hold memories that resurface the moment you walk through the doors. And this time, the memories went even deeper—because hanging on the wall was a painting we had installed there back in 2021. Seeing it again was such a pleasant surprise. This is exactly what we mean when we talk about timeless art—not just something pretty to fill a space, but something that grows with it, enhances it, and becomes part of its story.
Still bold, still beautiful, still commanding the room—it looked just as it did on day one. We even pulled up an old photo from the day it was completed and stood in the same spot. The years in between only made the moment more meaningful. I recently realized that it's been ages since my last blog post! Life has a way of keeping us busy, right? Creating a home you truly adore is an ongoing journey, and my space has been a labor of love that's continually evolving. What can I say? I just can't resist making changes! Now let me share with you my journey as I explore boho coastal chic lifestyle adventures and all its quirks and charms. Let's chat about our stairway living space – that cozy nook sandwiched between the entryway and the living room, where you flop after a long day. Take a peek at the snapshot below; it's from when we first moved in and just threw everything together. My beloved turquoise daybed – it's a stunner! I rescued it from being tossed away by an earlier customer 8 years ago and gave it a new lease on life. But, let's be real, it's not the best for napping. So, I decided to give it a new home upstairs for a fresh 'chill zone.' And that Ikea shelf? It started as a budget-friendly addition but began feeling too rigid as the house came together. Time to spice it up! So, when the stars aligned and our budget allowed for that fabulous rattan lounger, I caught the redecorating bug and started hunting for more ways to amp up our stairway iving space. One of my absolute favorite transformations was swapping out that plain, vanilla white shelf for a rugged, wooden shelves! The shelf in its new raggedy glory brought in a whole lot of character. I couldn't resist jazzing up those shelves with mementos from our globe-trotting adventures. The crystal stones from Croatia and the starfish from the Bahamas are like little pieces of paradise right on our living room shelf. I decided to go with a chic wall collage inspired by Kendall Jenner stairway. It's a mix of classic family photos in black and white. I wanted to keep it simple to blend seamlessly with all the other vibrant colors around. It really amps up the whole space! Here's the final look – I'm absolutely loving it! I'm currently all about neon lights; they're the perfect touch to make the space chic and playful. I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog as much as I've enjoyed sharing these updates!
Till my next post! Toodle-doo!
Since our move was delayed for 6 months due to the pandemic, we have a lot of time to plan. I manage to snap all the bare wall photos and measurements of our home beforehand, so it comes in super handy while deciding on the style. The first thing is the living room feature wall. Having seen hundreds of designs as part of my work, deciding one for our own home is more complicated than it seems. I got a little psycho and did so many versions, but one thing is for sure, the style that we want to achieve is a bohemian decor style with a coastal beach twist or some would call it bohemian beachy chic. This theme is great as both me and hubs work from home, and we want our home to be carefree and have a chilled and relaxed vibe, away from all the stress. This sofa was one of the first things we purchased for our home. It was a hard find, as I wanted a sofa that is laid back and ideal for stretching out, my hubs call me a sotong, hehe. Also, it is perfect for a movie night, when we have friends or families over (well, when that happens). I love its neutral colour, although having to maintain it is a different story! But the good thing with a neutral palette is you can play with colours and textures from the throw and pillows. Initially, we wanted a leather armchair to create a more masculine space, but this two armchair was love at a first sight, and it was the only 1 one of kind pair we found at a local furniture shop. The moment we got our keys, we brought in paint and brush to start with our mural project. We finally decided to paint this gorgeous floral design as our feature wall and it was completed within the same day! I love this design so much as it really defines the space and it is exactly what I imagined it to be. The colour of this mural also reflects the pool which is within a few meters away. Currently, we are using Ikea sheer curtains for the windows, we wanted to install nice curtains from the ceiling, but it cost a bomb! So maybe later. Heads up, there is a tall basket vase on the right to the console, it kinda looks unfinished. We will eventually get a nicer plant or pampas - we just haven’t found the right one yet! 😉 I also recently just remove all carpets from our home to make the house more dust-free, as I just got to know that I am allergic to dust. Maybe we only use carpets when we can have guests over. After I started working more and more on styling my own home, I realised that certain things bothered me so much. One of the things is cables and wiring, so I hid it with rattan baskets. Well, it works! Ah, the beauty of Shoppee! I absolutely love having fresh florals in the house, however, I only saved them for special occasions, as it can be quite high maintenance and costly. Fake flowers are also a wonderful way to add freshness and life to the living room. Plus, they can last forever! Up to date, there are still so many things that are still work in progress. But you know what they say, Rome wasn't built in a day!
If you like to see more Mural, Artwork or other DIY projects that you can work on for your home, head over to my home journey diary @ Coastal Paradize! Yaaay, finally we just moved in to our new house! I’m so excited to share with you our process of moving in and decorating our first home! It took us a long time before we finally moved in, due to the lockdown and pandemic, but we did it! We fell in love with this duplex house and one of the reason is that it is on the ground floor and have a gorgeous pool view. We didn't have the budget to renovate our house (although we would love to in the future). We have many furnitures from both my hubby and my previous home and offices that we manage to sold off before moving to our new home. It'll be nice to start from scratch, but it's a shame to get rid some of our unsold furnitures. In many ways, it was a HUGE amount of work. But, anyhow, we need to make it work. It takes a certain eye to be able to pull a room together and make it fabulous and functional at the same time. But not everyone can hire an interior designer to guide us with our design decisions, also with the pandemic, it is not convenient to do any form of renovation... So we decided that with the help on the internet and pinterest, we can work our way on achieving our dream home. Here is the photo of the house before we moved in, we were quite lucky that the previous owner really cleaned up well and the house was really well maintained. First things first! All walls to be painted white! Wait what, isn't it already white? Short answer is. no. The living room has an awesome tall ceiling wall and a great big window with nice view of the balcony and pool...obviously a feature wall art is must! There is an existing dry kitchen with a build in cabinet. We do have the desire to break down the dry and wet kitchen so we can have an open kitchen with a toilet and laundry room, but this has to wait. On the ground floor, there is a guest room with a bathroom, store room and another small room in the kitchen (I think its a survival pantry closet in case of zombie apocalypse). On the second floor, there is a masterbedroom with a bathroom with a bathtub, 2 other bedrooms with a shared bathroom. There is also another living room upstairs and the stairway area that is dying to be decorate. So that’s the first glimpse of our house! As you can see we have a lottttt of work to do and we are still figuring out the 'theme'. One thing for sure, we like the house to be bright, fresh and airy!
Putting the house together is an exciting adventure, I hope it wouldn't be stressful and overwhelming. The trick is to work on area by area, after all, we will be living there for a very long time. Whether you’re moving to a new place, looking to bring new life into a room, or simply love home tours — we love to share our experience with you. Stay tune for more! As you take a stroll down the street, have you noticed that certain building has amazing illustrations painted on its surface? Those amazing artworks are called murals and their distinctiveness are captivating. What makes mural art so unique is that they can be cooperated into the surface’s own physical built to enhance its traits and make the space more vibrant and livelier. For instance, by adding a mural to an empty wall can boost the appearance of the space thus making it look much more fascinating. Murals are multipurpose as its also serves as a great backdrop as well as helps increase overall attractiveness of the space. Imagine walking through Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur or Arab Street in Singapore that display an array of magnificent murals. Did you know? Petaling Jaya is one of the most impressive suburbs in Kuala Lumpur as it has numerous coruscating bars and restaurants. If you are trying to find for something to do in Petaling Jaya, you can check out Kayak.com.my for more info. Not-quite-recently, we did a massive project that pushes the whole Artisan team to test our limit and set us on another challenging course to expand our creativity. The whole project was just based on an idea which then we turn into an actual work of art. This particular art piece consists of four different element such as digital design print on stickers, 3D effect using compound cement, neon light and of course, the star of the show, the Mural itself. Who said murals are not suitable for homes? Below are some examples of murals to contradict the notion. The colours chosen are pastel and muted for the living and dining area and if it done right, murals can be soothing and expressive to the eyes. Do you need help with your wall space?
