If you know me, Boat Noodle is one of my favourite makan place. I used to eat there almost every day when I was staying at Empire Damansara, I met Tony a couple of months ago when i was having my lunch at (yes, you've guessed it, right) Boat Noodle with my neighbour Jason, who introduced me to Tony. I've always been a fan of Boat Noodle, and to actually meet the man behind this awesomeness is just amazing. Tony Lim who is super friendly by the way, shares his story of his entrepreneurship journey, and his how's and why's. He told me that he has a background in Automotive Engineering, but he took a big step by venturing into a totally different field- Food & Beverages. Can you believe it?? I mean who would have guessed! Having 9 outlets of Boat Noodles in Malaysia and 23 Chatimes outlet in Cambodia, (and this was back in 2016 you guys, omg, i just went to their website, there are more than 40 outlets now!!) Tony says that it took him into rocky roads to manage the outlets at first. However, it doesn’t let this stops him. He said that we need to prioritise things that we need to achieve for short target and set bigger goals to achieve in the long run. Frankly speaking, I feel like it is a big decision when we feel like doing something entirely new and very different from our knowledge and background. Not many would be brave enough to take this leap. Tony says, even when you are willing to take the leap, we need to find a creative idea that everyone can accept. Just like when he decides to ventures in F&B after he sees opportunity in that field while travelling between ASEAN countries. I feel like I have clearer perspective that we should never be afraid to try something new. So, challenge our self, gain thousands of experience, learn as we grow, and never give up before we try.
